The shorts come with braces. The base of the short is black lycra, to make it suitable for a multiple-day tour.
The white sides and hind skirt are made of a strong fiber, stronger than lycra. It is however not elastic and therefore not suitable for a whole short. It prevents severe injury when the rider crashes. The antibacterial 3D-chamois inlay is elastic, and suitable for men as well as women. This is absolutely a top class short.
